CALLING ALL COACHES, PLAYERS AND UMPIRES
The 2010 season is upon us and we are looking for players, coaches and umpires for the LOW Church modified fast pitch league. We had 5 teams last year and would like to have 6 or 8 teams this year. If you are interested in trying out for a team, adding an entire team or joining the league as an umpire, please contact Larry Graves at 540-972-0922.
Scheduled meetings for this year will be:
January 30, 2010 - 11:00am at Robinson's Tavern & Grill for all coaches and new players/teams. This will be to determine the level of interest.
February 27, 2010 - 11:00am at Robinson's Tavern & Grill for all coaches and new players/teams. This will be for the first deposit for registration fees of $250.
March 27, 2010 - 11:00am at Robinson's Tavern & Grill for all coaches and new players/teams. This will be for the final rosters and deposit of registration fees of $250.
April 24, 2010 - 11:00am at Robinson's Tavern & Grill for all coaches and new players/teams. Schedules and balls will be distributed for the upcoming season.
ABOUT THE LEAGUE
In 2001, Larry Graves formed the Lake of the Woods Church Softball League as part of the Men’s Ministry fellowship program. This program gives an opportunity, for men and women, to participate in a “Christian” competitive league. The word Christian, in this context, should represent other words such as humility, respect, compassion, encouragement and fair play.
The League currently has 5 teams with approximately 20 players on each team. The rosters consist of mostly men ranging in ages from 18 to 60. This is not an “official” coed league but women are encouraged to play. The format is modified fast pitch with some unique rules (see Rules). Teams typically play 7 inning double headers on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

The Lake of the Woods Church is a multi-denominational church for all believers whose mission is making Christ known. The Church is a friendly, caring congregation of nearly 900 members that welcomes LOW residents and nearby communities to experience the joy of worship. DIRECTIONS TO THE FIELD
All of the games are played within Lake of the Woods at Hollyfield Park (behind the tennis courts). From the main entrance, turn right onto Lakeview Parkway, and then make a right onto Constitution Boulevard, and then a left onto Yorktown Boulevard, and then a right into the park.
